Legend has it that on the night of San Juan, each year appears on the banks of the Caicena River the spirit of a young woman who is desperately looking for her beloved. The legend goes back to a time when, in Arabic Arabic, the love between a Moor and a Christian was impossible.
A beautiful young girl from the village came down to the river to wash daily. One day he met a young Christian who was captivated by her. In love, they started a romance that they could not keep secret, since her brothers discovered them and killed the young Christian. When she found the corpse of her beloved, she escaped to live the rest of her days in a nearby cave.
Since that happened, the locals say that every night of San Juan you can see the girl coming down to the riverbank hoping to meet her lover.
Commemorating this tragic legend, in Almedinilla the night of June 23 to 24 is celebrated "La Encanta" which starts at 10.00 pm with the parade of "Los Dácalos de Almedinilla" and that takes us through the streets of the town.
After four stops where the different elements of nature appear (earth, water, wind and fire) ends in the surroundings of the Caicena River where there will be a historical recreation of the legend "La Encanta".
